How do courts use the Plain Paper Print application for notices?

The Plain Paper Print application allows courts to print notices on regular 8 1/2 x 11 paper instead of the multi-part, pre-printed forms currently used by the courts of limited jurisdiction for the following notices:

  • Notice of Civil Hearing
  • Infraction Hearing Notice
  • Notice of Case Setting
  • Summons/Subpoena Notice

In order to use the plain paper option, the courts must go through an on-boarding process with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). See eService Answer - Plain Paper Print Notices (CLJ) - Court Set Up for more information.

The functionality of notices in the Judicial Information System (JIS) is still essentially the same:

  • Court dates are still scheduled on the individual cases using the Set Court Date (CDT) screen, the Batch Calendaring Add (BCAA) screen, or any calendaring field that is available on multiple screens in JIS.
  • The judge's initials entered when scheduling a hearing will print on the notice with the appropriate name and title as defined on the Official and Organization Person Record (OFO).
  • Preparing notices is still initiated on the Print Notice Select (PNS) screen.
  • Once the notices are prepared, they will be available to print through the Plain Paper Print (PPP) application. Accessing the application is one in either the Judicial Access Browser System (JABS) or Electronic Ticket Processing (ETP) applications.

The greatest enhancements come with the printing options in the PPP application:

  • The application provides the ability to specify printing options to include the number of copies needed and the sort order.
  • Allows the user to identify which notices are to be printed from a batch ordered on the PNS screen.
  • Notices display as a batch or individual PDF file format for easy printing and saving.
