What is the difference between BARS code 354.00.00A and 354.00.03A. Both are for Parking Infraction Penalties with a 100 percent local revenue. Which one should we use when setting up for our local parking laws?
The 354.00.03 BARS code was created at the request of a municipal court so the court could track revenue on its Remittance Report. The court wanted to be able to identify revenue from certain parking violations separately from other parking violation revenue. Courts should continue to use the 354.00.00 BARS code for local parking laws. However, if there is a need for separate parking revenue tracking based on a specific violation, the 354.00.03 BARS code could be used on some local parking laws. The revenue split on both BARS is identical - 100 percent local.
