How do I add a third charge after the first two charges were dismissed on PLS?



In the situation where a charge is dismissed and a new charge is added, follow these steps:

  1. Record the dismissal on the Plea/Sentence (PLS) screen with an appropriate Dismissal Reason.  The overall case type does not change when a charge is dismissed.  Refer to the JIS Online Manual, Finding and Judgment Processing topic, for more information on recording dismissals. 
  2. Then press F2 to add the new charge.  Refer to the JIS Online Manual, Add, Amend, or Delete Charges topic, for complete instructions as well as a chart that outlines how the overall case type may be affected by adding charges on PLS.
  3. Record the finding/judgment and sentencing information for the new charge.
