How are ARs prioritized on the CAR screen?

For Superior Court:

The Judicial Information System (JIS) automatically prioritizes the accounts receivables (ARs) on the Create AR (CAR) screen by AR type, with one exception: The standard default collection priorities for JIS do NOT accommodate prioritizing the Jail Cost (JTR) assessment. JTR should be collected after ALL other LFOs and court or probation costs; therefore, the JTR assessment must be MANUALLY set to the lowest priority.

For the authority for the above procedure, refer to the JLR entry on the AR Type Codes page of the online JRS/JIS Code Manual for Superior Courts:

Effective 7/25/93: Court has the discretion to order reimbursement by defendant for incarceration costs up to $100 a day. Money to be collected after all other LFOs and court or probation costs.

See also the Priority for Jail Costs section of the Online Manual for detailed information on manually setting AR priority, including the suggested priority numbering. Some courts choose to use their own numbering system.

For Courts of Limited Jurisdiction:

AR priorities are governed by the Payment Sequence setting on the Court Profile Maintenance (CPFM) screen.

See the How Payments Are Applied to ARs topic of the About Accounts Receivable Processing (Courts of Limited Jurisdiction) section of the Online Manual for detailed information on AR prioritization based on the Payment Sequence set on the CPFM screen.
